NRS 490 PICOT statement on PPE protocol latest update 2021.(updated statement 2021) Isolation precautions are put in place to prevent the spread of communicable diseases from patients to healthcare workers and to other patients. Infections can be transmitted through different mechanisms, such as, contact, airborne or droplet (Nulens, 2018). Patients are isolated according to the method of transmission attached to their infection, and PPE word depending on the type of isolation. Personal protective equipment is utilized to prevent the transmission of infection, directly or indirectly (Kang et al, 2017). In this paper the importance of PPE will be discussed, and a PICOT statement will be made regarding nurses, the use of PPE in an inpatient setting.
